Why Won’t My Calls Go Through? Change in Dialing for Oklahoma

Many Oklahoman’s are asking the same question: “Why are my calls not going through?!” Well… this is probably due to the new area code being added to Oklahoma and the new dialing that comes with this change!

Oklahoman’s in the 405 area code must now use the full 10 digit dialing when making calls. This change was initiated April 24th to make way for the new area code coming May 24th. The area code 572 is now being added in addition to our beloved 405.

This will now affect faxing, PBXs, life safety systems, alarm and security systems, speed dialers, call forwarding settings, voicemail services, and even Internet dial-up numbers. This will not affect 911 dialing.

Be sure to check all speed dials to ensure that area codes are assigned appropriately. Check letterhead and business cards to make sure your assigned area code is included.
