What is a Hosted Phone System

Hosted Phone solutions are what we do, but we often get asked “What is a hosted phone??” A hosted phone essentially means that your phone’s server is being hosted off site rather than on premise. A hosted phone system is a phone setup that works through an internet connection.

Types of Hosted Systems

There are two types of hosted PBX platforms you can choose from. Both these setups could match your business needs, but are accomplished differently.

1) A Cloud Based Hosted Phone: All phones connect to an outside VoIP data center. The phones are configured with an individual login and are programmed beforehand to register with a SIP server.

2) Sip Trunks: with Sip Trunks, you get to keep your premise based, PBX system, but the backhaul is completed through a VoIP-based trunk for all the outside lines you need. In the event of a PBX issue, you can route phone calls to any brick-and-mortar or virtual office.

How Do Hosted Systems Work?

Hosted systems work by integrating Voice Over IP (VoIP) and cloud technology. A VoIP system is similar to hosted and essentially means all voice communications run through the internet rather than on a traditional phone line. While a VoIP solution can be hosted, not all are.

An office’s VoIP system could still have a controller on premise making it a premise based system. What sets a Hosted System apart is the key integration with cloud technology allowing your system to be hosted on an alternative server offsite. The cloud system processes, controls, and hosts your businesses telephone calls. This cloud system then allows users to make calls from one number via either mobile or desk phones.

How Can Hosted Systems Save People Money?

The biggest cost saving feature to a hosted system is the lack of on premise equipment needed to get your business up a running. If a business so chooses, they could run their businesses phones solely through hosted phone apps such as Max UC and only pay for the service. Many offices still opt for desk phones, but without the need for a controller rack on site, the cost is significantly less.

Another huge saving is not having to pay long distance fees. All calls made domestically are covered the same under a hosted phone umbrella. If your company makes a lot of long distance calls, this feature alone might be enough to convince you to make the switch.

Hosted Phone solutions are reliable, fast, easy, and often times less expensive since you don’t have to pay for long distance. To upgrade your system call our office or inquire online to get a state of the art system from one of Oklahoma’s top communication companies.
